Ubuntu - Music App

The music app is a Qt/QML app for Ubuntu, following the converged design thinking - one code base for all devices.

As a musician and a huge music fan myself, it was a lot of fun to design this app. On phone, the app uses a single panel, and bottom-edge swipable playback controls. On larger screens, the playback controls and the queue are always visible on a side panel on the right. The app runs on Ubuntu Phone, tablet and desktop.

The next steps will be adding streaming sources, starting with Spotify via LibSpotify or its' successor. This will be through the same app, in addition to playing local music, so that you can listen to all your music sources in the same app.

It was a pleasure to work with our community developers Andrew and Victor, who contributed their free time to implement the designs. You can watch the interview I filmed with them below.
